You will receive a comprehensive oral examination, necessary diagnostic x-rays, and an evaluation of your dental needs. |

What might my insurance cover?
Most insurances cover the initial examination and x-rays at 100% but deductibles vary. Other treatment coverage varies with each individual policy. Keep in mind that dental insurance is not like medical insurance. It is only an "aid". It covers only a percentage of the treatment up to a maximum amount per year. |

What can I do for sore gums?
Conscientious daily oral hygiene is the best preventative measure. Once the pain becomes acute it's best to have it checked out before any permanent damage occurs. |

What to do for swelling?
Cold application - on and off for 20 minute intervals until you get into the office. |

What to do for sensitivity to hot or cold?
Try to evaluate if the sensitivity is caused by hot or cold exposure or both. Stop using whitening toothpaste. Elevate your head when sleeping. Take over-the-counter pain medication if necessary. If the pain comes and goes and lasts more than a few days, have it checked out. |

What to do for a broken tooth?
If you are in pain call the office immediately. You need to get into the office before the nerve (the dental pulp) becomes involved. If you are not in pain it is not an emergency but you need to be evaluated before the situation gets worse. A broken tooth will not heal itself. |

What to do for a knocked out tooth?
Try not to panic! Find the knocked out permanent tooth. Handle the tooth by its crown (the top part), not the root. Gently rinse (don't scrub) the tooth immediately with saline solution or milk (use tap water only as a last resort.) Keep the tooth from drying out until you see the dentist. If it is a child insert the clean tooth back into its socket (if the child is old enough to hold it in place). If it is an adult insert the clean tooth back into its socket or hold it between the cheek and lower gum. Or store the tooth in milk. Call the office or go to your local emergency room now. |
